Frequently Asked Questions
Why use The Entertainment Graph over something else?
Beyond metadata and images, The Entertainment Graph offers uniquely powerful search, social, and discovery tools that users love. We use Neo4j, a native graph database, to connect all entertainment content and create pathways that allow people to discover something new.
This connected approach allows us to deliver an API that puts content in context — something other data models just don’t do as well. We’ve made killer features like recommendations, related content, and silos available at every level, so developers can build these highly engaging concepts into products of all kinds.
How should I choose between Startup and Enterprise?
If you’re an early stage startup with plans to monetize down the road, the Startup Plan makes sense for you because it allows you to scale and provide a more complete experience for your users. For complex integrations that involve custom ID mapping, white labeling, or expanded data coverage, consider the Enterprise Plan.
Are there any branding requirements?
We want your apps to look good — so our attribution requirements don’t include a specific badge or logo. We require partners to display “Powered by The Entertainment Graph” on every page or screen that includes our data in a readable font no smaller than 10 points or 13 pixels. This copy must link to https://developer.mediahound.com. Color and styling are up to you, as long as it remains legible to a reasonable person. For more details, read our Branding Guidelines.
What happens if I go over my limits?
If you exceed your API call limits, the API will return a 429. If you have exceeded your per minute rate, you can wait 60 seconds and be back up and running. If you have exceeded your monthly rate, you will need to contact us to upgrade your account.
What is the length of the plan?
All plans have a 1 year initial term and partners are billed monthly.
Are they are any apps that currently use this API?
Sure — check out Date Night Movies.
